Intron Technology Officially Launches OPEN-ECU, an Open-Source Platform Initiates a New Ecosystem for the Automotive Industry

 Date:2021-08-31

(Hong Kong, 31 August 2021) – The OPEN-ECU platform, which aims to empower the development of the automotive industry and better serve domestic and overseas developers, was officially launched today. The implementation of this project was initiated by Intron Technology Holdings Limited (“Intron Technology”or the “Group”; HKEX: 1760), a fast-growing automotive electronics solutions provider in China, with support and participation from numerous ecosystem partners in the industry.

OPEN-ECU is a technological sharing platform that serves ecosystem partners across the automotive industry, focuses on product solutions and core technologies for intelligent vehicles. The platform is a one-stop development resource covering product display, technology exchange and information download. It provides the design and development of software and hardware, and technology resources that include hardware source files and software source codes, that meet automotive developers’ demand for technologies related to intelligent vehicles and connectivity, as well as the growing product life cycles.Intron Technology Officially Launches Open-Source Project – OPEN-ECU Aims to Open and Empower the Industry’s New Ecosystem through Information Exchange

The initial proposal for the OPEN-ECU project was based on Intron Technology’s mature R&D capabilities and the strengths it has developed in platform services over the years, including the design standards for vehicle functional safety and information security, the ASPICE development system, extensive experience in the development of embedded software and hardware, as well as the testing and validation platforms related to intelligent vehicles. The platform will gradually release Intron Technology’s Automated Driving ECU solutions and Connectivity ECU solutions. Meanwhile, the platform will connect more domestic and overseas developers in the fields of AI, visual computing, radar, GPS systems and functional safety to join such open-source ecosystem of OPEN-ECU to enable further resource sharing.

At present, automated driving-related technologies and products in the PRC are entering mass production stages. Facing challenges from the high integration levels of software & hardware electrification and automation, as well as the technological complexity involved in advancing from R&D to commercialization, players of the industry value chain are constrained by extremely high development costs and pressure from mass production. By adhering to the Group’s philosophy of “opening and sharing and continuous innovation”,OPEN-ECU, as a highly reliable and secure mass production technology platform, connects valuable resources and helps developers in the automotive ecosystem tackle product and technology-related issues.
Therefore, the platform enables enterprises to continue to meet challenges amid the new intelligent connected vehicle trend and helps accelerate the rapid growth of the automotive industry.

Mr. Eddie Chan, Co-CEO and Executive Director of Intron Technology, said, “Looking ahead, we will continue to enrich the OPEN-ECU platform in multiple dimensions and provide more diversified services such as group discussion, interactive Q&A and knowledge sharing. By establishing such platform for technology sharing, we aim to serve more domestic and overseas ecosystem partners and help them raise R&D efficiency and quality, as well as to provide reliable support for developers and foster the mass production of automated driving technologies so as to empower the development of the automotive industry.”
